Here's a report from our Forest Hill church:
We received your 20 donated bags in November for which we most sincerely, thank you; and also, give God thanks for his bountiful blessings.
To date, we have now given out 16 backpacks. They have been very enthusiastically received by our asylum seekers many of whom have no means of carrying around their meagre possessions, and perhaps, feel a little insecure and uncertain about leaving them in their hotel rooms. They are usually assigned one hotel room per family, and at times, they feel the want of space.
Some of those who are not part of a family unit are expected to share their rooms with other people, sometimes as many as four relative strangers. In such circumstances, it would be absolutely imperative to have a way of keeping your private papers sent from the Home Office and your solicitor, together, somewhere safe away from prying eyes. The donated backpacks become an absolute necessity, in such a case, as you may well appreciate. So, thank you once again for your donation.
